Does throwing up help weight loss?? :)

This morning I had my pre-breakfast supplements with 1litre of iced water as usual:

D3
Potassium
B Complex
AGG

And then forgot to have breakfast. Don't ask. Two daughters, plastic dinosaurs and an existential argument about Spiderman.

1 hour later I threw up - dry heaves, the whole shebang. I could taste the supplements. Not great.

A lesson learned I think. I just hope it was the empty stomach thing as opposed to a reaction.

My Bod Pod results

So I rocked up to BCOM this afternoon - really easy to get there - opposite Finchley Road Tube station.

Daphne Bird (see previous post) took me through the whole procedure from Lycra shorts to swimming cap. Hysterical.

So what are the scores on the doors??

Shocking really. I was guessing maybe 26-28% body fat.

It's actually 31.3%

No fucking way.

And I thought I was looking better!

Daphne did some clever numbers for daily energy expenditure as well and I will scan in the docs on Thursday and post them up.

31.3%.....bloody hell.

Still, it's easier to improve on that then 15%!

Be good,

Stephen

Apologies for being quiet - a trip to Germany stopped regular transmission

Managed to survive ok considering the amount of booze I drank with clients. Put on 3lbs. Full stats next Sunday.

Still, it's Monday morning and I am back on it properly. Cold shower this morning and sitting in an unheated office. Bloody thermal loading.

Started my exercises yesterday. Kettlebell and all other non-gym workouts that T recommends - I will let you know how these go next week.

Thanks for some great comments from Dan and Bud in the meantime. Dan I will get back to you about the supplement schedule comment you posted. Interesting reading.

My first bad week - Stats and a Mea Culpa

Everything has gone tits up and it's my own fault!

I was reasonably encouraged by my progress - not the 20lbs in 30 days suggested in the 4HB, but definitely on course for a stone (14lbs). I knew I was doing a couple of bits & bobs wrong and in the last week this resulted in some real complacency.

  • Not eating within 1hr of waking.
  • Not drinking enough water
  • Forgetting my supplement regime
  • Inconsistent meal schedule
  • Not eating enough calories
  • Lack of cold showers (had a cold) and ice packs
  • Not slowly eating food and using lemon and cinammon

As TF said in one of his blog replies " The Devil is DEFINITELY in the details. The difference between strict and a little can be the difference between success and failure. True with many things in life. Try getting a little pregnant or cheating a little on a spouse! Some things are absolutes."

So I have a week in Germany next week working with a client. Staff canteens are patchy at best although I am learning to whip hotels and resteraunts into shape rather well! I am going for damage limitation over the course of the week and then as soon as I get back I am going to start my regime again with the proper focus.

So - here are my stats for all you number junkies:

30th Jan

Chest 102.5
Upper Arm L 33.5
Upper Arm R 32.5
Waist 102.5
Hips 110.5
Thigh L 63.5
Thigh R 64.5
Calf L 42
Calf R 42

TCM 593.5
TI 233.7

Weight KG 99.2
Weight Lbs 15st 9lbs
Weight US 219

Pretty good for total inches lost but I do know that I could have done so much better.

I am starting to fit into suits again and I am very pleased at my progress, just not so pleased at my focus.

Sill it's a marathon not a sprint!

I'm pleased....but:

A few things to note.

  • It has taken me all week to lose my 6lb re-feed day weight + 1lb which is a right bugger. I feel like the re-feed day needs to be rethought for 2 reasons.
    • I haven't been doing them properly as per the Damage Control section. I really need to see if they work when I do my exercises and tea etc. I do however make sure I have the good breakfast.
    • I tend to eat crap throughout the day. I get the impression from TF that he blocks his crappy food into meals and deals with them that way. The lemon, cinnamon, exercises etc..
    • If they do this kind of damage to my diet then I may have to go for just a cheat meal which frankly sucks and makes life miserable, but I want to continue the good work from the diet.
  • My domino food is wine (which is bloody typical for me). If I drink Friday or Saturday night my 2 small glasses of red can easily turn into a bottle.
  •  The chapter in the book called the Glucose Switch. I re-read this the other day and it has a massive impact on how you eat the Slow Carb meals. So much so that this chapter probably should have been first and re-emphasised in the SC section. What it boils down to is if you eat a SC meal quickly it will still effect you like a normal meal because your blood sugar peaks over 100. So slow down and use the cinnamon and lemon. I haven't been doing this.
  • I have had a cold so I have been inconsistent on my Ice-Age therapy. Sorry - when you have a hacking cough the last thing you want to do is take a cold shower, so I have only had a couple in the last week. Drinking enough water has also been tough.
So I am heading in the right direction but I really need to nail the details of these techniques.

I will let you know how things go!

Stephen
